Western Avenue Nissan Review

Scam likely

The sign of impending frustration

I was shopping around for a new car when I ran across all these unbelievable postings of cars at this place. All these postings were thousands of dollars under priced. The car  that caught my eye was a 2010 Dodge Charger SXT for $6500. It was under multiple sites for $6500 and the used price is usually $11k-12k (I cross checked with Blue Book and other sites like Edmund's, Cars.com, etc.) The Carfax says it was never in an accident either and had about 120k miles on it. Oddly enough, there was a 2008 Dodge Charger a few cars down for $9500...I should've taken this as a red flag.

"I tried to get him to explain where the extra $1500 came from (mind you this was $8000 BEFORE taxes and license fees.) and he only dodged the question and stated 'offers will only be considered in-person.' "

I inquire about the price online and get an email from a sales rep. All I wanted to do was confirm the $6500 asking price and he sent me a price of $8000. I tried to get him to explain where the extra $1500 came from (mind you this was $8000 BEFORE taxes and license fees.) and he only dodged the question and stated "offers will only be considered in-person." What? I'm not trying to make an offer I JUST WANT YOU TO CONFIRM THE LISTING PRICE!!!

He then called me up multiple times trying to get me to come in. When I told him I was waiting for a person he oddly asked me why? I told him I wanted them to check the car and his enthusiasm disappeared for a few seconds and he groaned. While $8,000 is still a great deal, because of the obvious shady business (bait 'n' switch, question dodging, not to mention that odd reaction to me bringing someone to check out the car) I didn't go through with anything.

"A dealership that employs low-level bait and switch tactics that even a novice can see through is not worth my business. "

Who knows what shenanigans would've ensued when I actually walked into the dealership? A dealership that employs low-level bait and switch tactics that even a novice can see through is not worth my business. His reaction to me bringing someone more knowledgeable to help me evaluate the car was also extremely off-putting.

*Update - Now this guy is still calling and emailing trying to get me to come in after I told him why I'm not doing business with them already.
